Nordic Walking great for upper body as well as your legs
Jo has also trained me to Nordic Walk, which for me is really a top-up activity, great for moving along rapidly while exercising the upper body as well as your legs. (I expect it to be particularly useful when I next need to recuperate from some leg or ankle injury which prevents me from running while I recover !)
Apart from her weekly Nordic Walking workouts, there are occasional long Nordic Walks in other rural parts of north London – and of course once trained, it’s also something you can do by yourself or with similarly minded friends.
Nordic Walking is a perfect way to get out and keep fit.
Because I have to be careful of too much high impact exercise, I tried Nordic Walking as soon as Jo started her classes, and find it a perfect way to get out and keep fit (with groups or on my own) whilst being kind to my knee joints. My regular 40-minute route around Ally Pally is over 7000 steps, and I really enjoy the social side of the group walks.
Come rain, shine or snow, Johanna’s sessions are now firmly a part of my weekly routine, and best of all, I don’t have to step inside a gym!

I've got a renewed vigor!
I've just come back from walking the Tour Mont Blanc, 180km in 11 days! When I agreed to do it I panicked!
I got in touch with Johanna and it was the best preparation I could have done for the walk in the Alps.
Although Alexandra Palace isn't the Alps, I was able to push myself and it paid off.
My legs were stronger and able to cope with the inclines and declines and I was able to use the walking poles with ease.
I've come back stronger and fitter and with a renewed vigor. Thank you Jo.

Nordic Walking ... It's become addictive
I was struggling to find a class I could do with my achillies, knee and lower back issues. I was given a 7 day class taster pass and so decided to try Johanna's Nordic Walking Classes.
I hadn't a clue what Nordic Walking was but I turned up at Ally Pally got the Poles and did it!
It's become addictive!
The poles support you so theres no stress on your joints. You can go faster and further.

I have been Nordic walking with Johanna for almost three and a half years. I love Nordic walking and have seen fitness levels improve.
Late last year (2015) the queue for the lifts at Covent Garden tube were massive. Deciding to climb the stairs, I passed people a third of my age struggling to climb! At the top I was breathless but not gasping. About five years ago I did the same climb and was gasping.
Really pleased with the results from Nordic Walking.

Nordic walking with Jo is not only great fun (when she doesn’t make us climb too many hills!) but great for your fitness level.
Jo tailors each walk to individual needs and all abilities are catered for. Nordic walking is not to be underestimated and is a great way to work your whole body not just your legs.
I personally found it a great start to building up my fitness and I have now progressed to boot camp with Jo too. Both forms of exercise are enjoyable but also challenging.
